POLICIES & PROCEDURES:
INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE

Crosby Training ensures all assessment and internal quality assurance activities are accurate, consistent, fair, and compliant with awarding organisation requirements, supporting high-quality learner outcomes. This applies to all learners, staff, and third parties involved in delivery, assessment, and IQA activities.

The policy is accessible to staff, learners, and stakeholders, and reviewed annually or sooner as needed due to legislation, awarding organisation changes, operational developments, or feedback.

IQA PRINCIPLES

  • All assessments comply with qualification and awarding organisation standards.
  • Evidence is valid, authentic, current, reliable, and sufficient (VACSR).
  • Risk-based sampling ensures consistency and fairness in assessment decisions.
  • Standardisation and quality meetings identify improvements and share good practice.
  • Assessor, tutor, and IQA performance is monitored and developed through CPD.

SAMPLING & MONITORING

Crosby Training uses interim and summative sampling to review assessment quality, combining observation, learner interviews, and audit trails. Sampling considers candidates, assessors, assessment methods, evidence, records, and sites (CAMERA – ). Monitoring identifies trends, development needs, and informs improvements. All IQA activity is auditable and accessible for awarding organisation review.

SAMPLING STRATEGY

Sampling plans are based on the CAMERA principles:

  • Candidates (learners)
  • Assessors
  • Methods of assessment
  • Evidence
  • Records
  • Assessment sites

Detailed records are maintained for all sampling activities.

OBSERVATION & STAFF DEVELOPMENT

Assessors and tutors are observed regularly (annually or per risk assessment), in person or remotely. Staff must maintain occupational competence and participate in CPD to ensure quality standards.

RECORDS & SECURITY

IQA records – including sampling reports, assessments, observations, and meeting minutes – are retained for 14 years per the Academic Archiving Policy. Records are secure, auditable, and accessible only to authorised personnel, complying with UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, Equality Act 2010, and awarding organisation requirements.
