POLICIES & PROCEDURES:
ASSESSMENT FRAUD & MALPRACTICE

Crosby Training is committed to maintaining the integrity of assessment and certification. This policy sets out how the organisation prevents, identifies, investigates, and responds to suspected fraud, malpractice, and maladministration by learners or staff.

SCOPE

Applies to learners, tutors, assessors, IQAs, staff, contractors, and anyone involved in delivery or assessment. Covers plagiarism, collusion, impersonation, falsification of records, improper assistance, and other irregularities.

PREVENTION

  • Induct learners and staff on policy and expectations.
  • Promote honest, independent work and proper referencing.
  • Provide guidance on acceptable collaboration and ICT use.
  • Keep assessment evidence, certificates, and records secure.
  • Train staff in assessment integrity, authentication, and escalation procedures.

REPORTING CONCERNS

  • Report suspected malpractice to the Quality Assurance Manager or, if appropriate, senior leadership.
  • Include details of what happened, who, when, where, evidence, and any immediate risk.
  • Safeguarding concerns must be reported immediately via the safeguarding procedure.

INVESTIGATIONS

  • Allegations assessed promptly; investigations are proportionate to severity.
  • Acknowledgement within 5 working days, initial assessment within 10 working days.
  • Individuals are informed of allegations and possible consequences, and given a chance to respond.
  • Evidence and witness statements are collected; temporary removal from assessment duties may be applied if necessary.
  • Full records maintained and confidentiality observed.

OUTCOMES & SANCTIONS

Proportionate outcomes include:

  • No action, reworking, re-assessment, or invalidation of evidence.
  • Withholding certification until requirements are met.
  • Referral to awarding organisation or external bodies.
  • Withdrawal from course or assessment.
  • Staff disciplinary action.

Sanctions consider seriousness, intent, repetition, and awarding body requirements.

APPEALS

  • Individuals may appeal in writing within 10 working days or as per awarding body rules.
  • Appeals are considered by someone not involved in the original investigation.
  • Awarding body appeal routes will be followed where applicable.

RECORDS & REFERRALS

  • Compliance follows specific awarding body malpractice and appeal procedures.
  • All stages are documented and retained securely.
  • Awarding organisations are informed if certification,assessment validity, or rules are affected.
