POLICIES & PROCEDURES:
SAFEGUARDING & PREVENT DUTY
Crosby Training is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all learners, including children, young people, and vulnerable adults. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and all staff are expected to contribute to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.
SAFEGUARDING COMMITMENT
All learners have the right to be protected from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and harm. Crosby Training operates a zero-tolerance approach to abuse, bullying, discrimination, harassment, harmful sexual behaviour, and any activity that places learners at risk. Appropriate safeguarding procedures, safer recruitment practices, and staff training are in place to support this commitment.
IDENTIFYING & REPORTING CRIME
Staff must remain vigilant to signs of abuse, neglect, exploitation, radicalisation, or other welfare concerns. Any concern, however small, must be recorded and reported through established safeguarding procedures. Learners who disclose concerns must be listened to carefully, treated with sensitivity, and reassured appropriately. Staff must not promise confidentiality and should refer concerns immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy DSL.
The DSL is responsible for managing safeguarding concerns, making referrals to external agencies where required, maintaining records, and ensuring appropriate support is provided.
LEARNERS AT GREATER RISK
Some learners may be more vulnerable to harm, including those with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND), children in care, care leavers, learners experiencing poor attendance, and those facing challenging personal circumstances. Additional support and monitoring may be required to safeguard these individuals effectively.
PREVENT DUTY
Crosby Training recognises that safeguarding includes protecting learners from radicalisation and extremism. Staff receive Prevent training to help identify vulnerabilities and report concerns appropriately. The organisation promotes British Values, equality, diversity, inclusion, and respectful debate while ensuring learners are protected from extremist influences.
SAFER RECRUITMENT, STAFF CONDUCT & TRAINING
Robust recruitment and vetting processes, including enhanced DBS checks, help ensure suitable individuals are employed. Staff are expected to maintain professional boundaries at all times and follow the Staff Code of Conduct. Allegations against staff are managed in accordance with safeguarding procedures.
All staff receive safeguarding, Prevent, and data protection training at induction and through regular refresher sessions to ensure knowledge remains current.
