Crosby Training has completed its first Ofsted inspection under their new Education Inspection Framework.

The inspection resulted in Strong Standard judgements in two areas: Inclusion and Participation & Development, with Expected Standard achieved in the remaining three areas: Leadership & Governance, Curriculum & Teaching, and Achievement. Ofsted also confirmed that Crosby Training’s safeguarding standards are met.

Learners access valuable wider opportunities that help them to develop their confidence and resilience.

We are delighted with these findings, which recognise the dedication and hard work of our staff and the progress, experiences and achievements of our learners.

The inspection report highlights the positive difference Crosby Training makes to learners, recognising the supportive learning environment, the opportunities available and the progress people make towards greater independence and employment.

An inclusive culture in which diversity is celebrated...Learners make progress and thrive in welcoming, supportive and respectful learning environments.

Strong Standard: Inclusion and Participation & Development

These two areas received the highest judgements, with the report recognising the importance of an inclusive environment where learners are valued, respected and given opportunities to develop. Inspectors also highlighted the wider opportunities available to learners, helping them develop skills and qualities that extend beyond their training.

Expected Standard: Leadership & Governance, Curriculum & Teaching, and Achievement

Crosby Training achieved Expected Standard in all three remaining inspection areas. This confirms that our provision meets the standards required across leadership, the quality of teaching and curriculum, and learner achievement. The report also highlights the progress learners make and the supportive environment in which they learn.

Learners swiftly acquire the new knowledge and skills that they need to get closer to the job market and to secure employment.

Ultimately, the most important measure of our work is the difference it makes to the people who come through our doors. For many learners, training is about much more than gaining qualifications. It is an opportunity to develop confidence, discover new abilities and take steps towards their ambitions.

The inspection took place under Ofsted’s new five-point grading framework. This replaced the previous approach of awarding an overall effectiveness grade. Instead, inspectors now assess individual areas of a provider’s work against a set of defined standards. This provides a more detailed picture of what a training provider does well and where further development may be needed.

Importantly, Ofsted has made clear that the new grades cannot be directly compared with the previous grading system. They represent a different approach to inspection and evaluation.
