Throughout our many years of delivery, there has always been one key message at the heart of everything we do, and that is ‘going the extra mile’ for our learners. One person who embodied this motto was Colin, our Operations Manager for over 20 years.
A driving force behind our ‘putting people first’ ethos, Colin truly believed in the power of education and its ability to make a genuine difference in people’s lives.
He was passionate about embedding a free of charge, premium salon service into our provision and also played an integral role in introducing the Crosby Training Minibus; services that we continue to offer to this day.
Away from work, Colin was a loving father, an avid motorist and a talented musician.
Born to entertain, his talents often spilled over into the workplace, with learners and colleagues alike regularly left in floods of laughter; the room was always a bit brighter when Colin was around.
When Colin passed away in 2018, we all lost an inspirational friend, an innovative colleague and, above all else, a good man. In his honour, we have renamed our Discretionary Fund – another of Colin’s brilliant ideas – as a permanent tribute to the man who worked so fervently to introduce it.
Granting additional funds to learners for everything from laundry and bus tickets to dental work and interview clothes, we’re delighted that Colin’s Discretionary Fund will continue to make a significant and positive impact on our learners for years to come.
